Anabolic Steroids Safety

Author:
Before you can understand whether anabolic steroids are safe, it helps to know the history behind steroids. Steroids were first used in Germany in the 1940’s as an experiment on military troops. The goal was to stimulate the growth of proteins and tissues so that the steroids could be used on victims of war that were suffering from burns and so forth. Although steroids were effective in these trial studies, there were other drugs that were discovered that did the same thing but with less side effects than steroids.

Using steroids for a short period of time or a long period time both have some side effects; and men need to understand both of them before deciding to consume them as part of a weight training/body building regimen.

Indeed, many of these side effects have some lasting and damaging effects on the body, because many of them take place inside the body where they are not noticed for some time. Although many of the side effects will go away after steroid use has ceased, there can be some lasting effects. Some of these side effects include:

-Damage to the liver, both short term and long term.
-Damage to heart, including heart attack risk and heart disease.
-High blood pressure.
-Various cancer risks.
-Vomiting and nausea.
-Problems with indigestions, both short term and long term.
-Headaches, chronic and migraine.
-Problems sleeping.
-Blood clots, leading to stroke.
-Aching muscles and joints, chronic and short term.
-Hair loss.
-Acne on the face and back.
-Problems with urination as well as bowel problems.
-The increased possibility of permanent injury to the tendons and ligaments in the body.

Steroid Use issues

For those men that choose to rely partly upon steroids to achieve the body that they want, there are some safety issues that they should keep in mind. This issues when it comes to steroids safe use include (a) understanding how steroids work, (b) using a safe steroid cycle, and (c) knowing when to quit.

With so much concern about steroids safety, many men are looking for alternatives that pose fewer or mitigated side effects.

Overall, many men would simply benefit from understanding that a “bulked up body” isn’t always that desirable body when it comes at a price that isn’t worth paying; one that, ironically, undermines health in the long run. Men need to feel secure in who they are, how they look, and where they are in their lives without necessarily “needing” to have a bulked up body that results from potentially unsafe anabolic steroid use.

Anabolic Steroids, Ok In Moderation?

Author:
Wow! Can you believe all of the news about anabolic steroids right now? It is really causing a stir but not necessarily for the right reasons. Let’s take a few moments to consider what makes the prevalent use of these performance enhancers besides the fact that people are “cheating.”

First let’s discuss whether this is really cheating or at least try to gain perspective on this. To do this we have to know what we are talking about. Anabolic means to build up (rather than catabolic which means to tear apart or break down). Steroid is just a type of molecule that is found in the body and because of its makeup serves as a hormone and regulates the synthesis of DNA by entering the nucleus and attaching itself to different parts of the machinery that produces the DNA. So these anabolic steroids are simply substances that go to muscle, among other tissue, and build it up.

Basically they are just adding to an already natural process that goes on in all of our bodies. Those people who naturally have higher levels of these hormones are going to have naturally bigger muscles and also greater potential if they work them. So the question then is, is it really ability that goes into being extra strong or is it a crap shoot. I for one choose the latter and for this reason don’t think that it is cheating so much as potentiating the actual ability that someone has in a sport. There are two big reasons for my thinking. First you still have to work hard to have big muscles while taking steroids. Second you still have to be good at swinging a bat and choosing the right pitch to be good at hitting. In both cases you are just using a “tool” to maximize your potential, much like sunglasses help you to see a fly ball better in the out field but it doesn’t catch the ball for you.

You might be surprised then to hear me say that I don’t think that anabolic steroids should be legal. You have to hear my reason though–not because I think it is cheating but instead I think it is not good for the health of the player. You see muscles that make you stronger aren’t the only thing that these substances affect. They affect your heart putting you at increased risk of sudden death. They also make your muscles too big for your body to support meaning greater chance of tendon, ligament, and bone injury. There are many other things that are affected in a negative way as well that make these things totally not worth it.

Anabolic Steroids and Will They Work for Me?

Author:

Unfortunately nobody can tell that question over the internet, but here are some tips to consider!

Firstly anabolic steroids are a class of natural and synthetic steroid hormones that promote cell growth and division, resulting in growth of muscle tissue and sometimes bone size and strength. Anabolic steroids are the synthetic derivates of male anabolic hormone testerone. Some anabolic steroids are Deca Durabolin, Sustanon, Winstrol Depot, Winstrol, Andriol, Anavar and other.

The base substance of Deca Durabolin is Nandrolone Decanoate. Nandrolone Decanoate is a male sex hormone given to treat a lack of testosterone, bone breakdown, female breast cancer, stimulation of growth, weight gain, and the making of red cells. Nandrolone Decanoate works as it is easy on the liver and promotes good size and strength gains while reducing body fat. This drug is unique in that 5a -reductase, the enzyme which converts testosterone to the more-potent DHT, actually converts Nandrolone to a less-potent compound. Therefore, this is somewhat deactivated in the skin, scalp, and prostate, and these tissues experience an effectively-lower androgen level than the rest of the body.

But there are some also some drawbacks or side effects Nandrolone Decanoate (Deca Durabolin) also has some side effects which are Water retention (edema), Gynecomastia, Numbness, Inhibited natural testosterone production, Elevated blood pressure , Elevated blood lipid profiles, Accelerated hair loss , Aggression, moodiness and Acne. I must remind you that Deca Durabolin has long half-life so it isn’t very suitable for short alternating cycles, but it is better for more traditional cycles, with a built-in self-tapering effect in the weeks following the last injection. Yes Deca Durabolin is taken with administration by deep intermuscular Injection.

Sustanon 250 is an oil-based injectable containing four different testosterone compounds: testosterone propionate, 30 mg; testosterone phenylpropionate, 60 mg; testosterone isocaproate, 60mg; and testosterone decanoate, 100 mg. It features both fast-acting and slow-acting esters, and can be injected anywhere from once every week to once every four weeks. Sustanon is used to be taken with Nolvadex or Proviron to counter and prevent estrogen-linked side effects. Testosterone Propionate: Chemical Formula C3H6O2, Testosterone propionate is a fast-acting ester with a release time of 3-4 days. To keep blood levels from fluctuating greatly, propionate is usually injected between one to three times a week. Testosterone Phenylpropionate: Chemical Formula C9H10O2, Testosterone phenylpropionate is a slow-acting ester, with a release time of 1-3 weeks. A popular name brand for T-phenylpropionate is “Testolent.” Testosterone Isocaproate: Chemical formula C6H12O2, Testosterone Isocaproate is a ester with a release time of 1 week.Testosterone Decanoate: Chemical Formula C10H20O2, Testosterone Decanoate is a ester with a release time for about a month, but recent discoveries show that levels drop siginficantly drop in a few weeks.

Andriol is a brand name for Testosterone Undecanoate Testosterone undecanoate is not a c-17 alpha alkylated hormone. Therefore, it is considered a safer oral form of testosterone. Additionally, it is absorbed through the small intestine into the lymphatic system, posing less burden on the liver. Undecanoate: Chemical Structure C11H22O2. Undecanoate is not a commonly found ester, and appears in oral testosterone undecanoate (Andriol). It is an ester with a release time of 2-3 weeks.

More on this subject will be discussed next week!

Legal Steroids - Another Alternative - Natural Body Building

Author:
For competitive body builders to build bigger muscles faster is a constant temptation but for the average non competitive body builder there is another natural option - natural body building. True it is a much slower process but the long term gains far outweigh the adverse affects that even legal steroids may have on your body over an extended period of time.

Steroids are usually used for a short duration of say 6-8 weeks with a substantial period of time elapsing before starting on the next course of steroids. It is not recommended that anyone take steroids on a continuous basis. This on and off program tends to produce short term spikes in muscle mass and muscle strength.

The advantage of natural body building is a slower but steadier increase in muscle mass rather than the peaks and lows of those on steroids. I am sure many of you have seen or heard of the affects on a body builder who stops using steroids - Rapid loss of muscle bulk and strength. The affects of steroids are fairly short lived and can result in some dramatic changes to both physique and health of a body builder.

Natural body building results in a steadier and more constant performance rather than the often times spectacular ups and downs of steroid induced muscle bulk and strength performance. When you achieve top results as a natural body builder you will be able to maintain your muscle bulk and strength for as long as you continue intense training without adverse affects on your general health.

You will not experience any dramatic muscle wasting that is many times seen in body builders when they stop using steroids. Loss of muscle bulk and strength are two of the most dreaded words for body builders. Natural body building will help most to avoid these pitfalls.

So why do people use steroids? Most of us are impatient creatures and want instant results so the steroid alternative is very attractive. Probably one of the most important factors that affect a person’s decision to use steroids or go the natural way is what is their reason for body building - is it just to look and feel better or are they in it for the competition.

So it is your call - you decide whether using legal steroids will benefit you and your objectives.

Or play it safe and go for the healthier, steadier natural body building program that will have longer term benefits for a healthier lifestyle - Its your choice.

L-Carnitine For Health & Muscle Growth: What You Need To Know About L-Carnitine

Author:

L-carnitine is a nutritional supplement that has been touted by body builders and other athletes as a safe and helpful way to create bigger and more efficient muscles. Some physicians and researchers have looked at L-carnitine to prevent muscle wasting in people who need kidney dialysis; alternative medicine purveyors suggest that L-carnitine may stop cellular aging. In order for you to make a healthy decision about using L-carnitine, we’ve put together some information any potential buyer should have.

What is L-carnitine, anyways?

L-carnitine is a modified amino acid, produced in the liver. Most amino acids form the building blocks of proteins, which in turn provide much of the structure and function of the body. L-carnitine is different than amino acids in that it doesn’t form a part of a protein; instead it serves as a delivery van, moving fats into specialized parts of our cells, where they can be used for energy.

Several conditions can result in lowered L-carnitine levels, including:

-rare genetic (hereditary) conditions -loss of L-carnitine during dialysis (the mechanical process used to clean the blood in patients whose kidneys can’t manage it) -certain persons (for example, premature babies) who may not get enough L-carnitine in their diets and cannot make adequate amounts in their livers

Where can I get some?

Most people synthesize (make) enough L-carnitine for their needs in the liver. You can also get significant amounts in your diet from:

-ground beef -pork -milk -fish

Even strict vegetarians generally make enough that they don’t need to eat meat to have the needed L-carnitine ; they can also get small amounts from sources like avocado, whole wheat bread and asparagus.

Should I be taking L-carnitine supplements?

People who have a liver condition that doesn’t allow L-carnitine to be synthesized need to take L-carnitine supplements in order to survive; this is also the case for people who are born with kidneys that excrete L-carnitine in large amounts.

Because L-carnitine is so important in creating energy, many people swear by it to enhance their athletic activity. They feel that this is particularly important in their muscles, which often need lots of energy in order to increase in size (as in body building) and to function over long periods of time (in marathon runners).

Unfortunately, studies to date have not shown conclusively that supplementation improves athletic performance or muscle bulk. Some research suggests though that larger studies need to be done to see if there is an effect on certain types of exercise or certain sub-groups of athletes.

There is a little more evidence that L-carnitine may be useful for people with conditions that lead to loss of L-carnitine, for example:

*Aging. Some studies suggest that energy and memory losses may in part be due to decreased levels of L-carnitine in older rats and mice; L-carnitine has been shown to partially reverse these changes. Large studies are planned to see if L-carnitine has this effect on aging humans

*Heart damage. Several studies in humans suggest that L-carnitine supplementation after myocardial infarction (heart attack) may help the heart repair damaged cells and help it function better. L-carnitine even seems to help people who are having angina - the pain that sometimes precedes heart attack.

*Muscle loss from kidney disease. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of L-carnitine in dialysis patients to prevent and treat carnitine deficiency that is caused by kidney disease and dialysis. While it does not work for all patients who experience muscle weakness and loss, it is available as an alternative if standard treatments aren’t working.

The Short Answer…

Unless you have one of a few specific conditions, it’s not yet clear whether L-carnitine will help you with your goals. Since for some people (including those with seizure disorders, who have Alzheimer’s disease, or who are pregnant and nursing) L-carnitine supplements may be dangerous, your best bet might be to wait until more information is available.

HGH Supplementation - What Really Works? An HGH Review

Author:
If you are at all interested in anti-aging news or nutritional supplements, you’ve probably heard about hGH or Human Growth Hormone. Although it is important to discuss what HGH is and how it works, the main focus of this article is to review the various types of HGH supplementation. Let’s briefly cover the basics.

What Is Growth Hormone?

GH is a hormone released by the pituitary gland. It generally releases the hormone in bursts. GH levels are high during puberty and then fall off. They remain stable during mid-adulthood (the 30s) but then decline progressively through old age. By the time many people reach 60, GH levels are very small. One third of the 60+ adults produce NO GH at all!

What Does It Do?

Why should we care about our GH levels? GH is important in repairing damaged tissue, promoting cell regeneration, enhancing muscle growth, burning fat, and supports healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Low GH levels could very well be the reason some of us age faster than others. Of course, heredity and life style choices factor into that.

Is There a Natural Way to Increase My GH Level?

That depends upon your age and present GH level. Factors that help with GH production are a low-fat, high protein diet, exercise, plenty of sleep and avoiding stress. If you are over 40 and feeling sluggish, chances are you may benefit from a GH supplement.

What Types of GH Supplements Are Available?

The ONLY type of HGH that has proven results is pure Growth Hormone given by injections. However, they require a doctor’s prescription, are expensive, and can have some side effects. Unless you’ve had your hormone levels tested and are suffering from a growth hormone deficiency, you may be able to see some benefit from less invasive supplementation.

Homeopathic HGH - Secretagogues

These are supplements that contain a small amount of actual synthetic growth hormone. They usually come in spray form and are have to meet FDA guidelines on how much HGH to include. The idea is to stimulate production of your own HGH by using a small amount of synthetic HGH.

HGH Releasers

These also come in spray form as well as pills and here’s where the confusion starts. The releasers contain amino acids which can stimulate HGH production but in fact, do not actually contain synthetic HGH. If you don’t know the difference between these two products, it’s easy to assume you are buying an actual HGH product when you aren’t. Read the ads carefully.

Which one works better? It’s probably a case of experimentation to see how your body responds. There are many doctors that claim none of the oral sprays work. There are also plenty of people using them that claim to see results. There are factors to consider when choosing a homeopathic spray ? For more discussion and my recommendation, see the website below.

Nutritional Supplements

Nutritional supplements have been used by athletes and body builders for some time but only recently have started to catch on with the mainstream public as part of an anti-aging program. I’m not talking about the vitamin and mineral supplements, but specific amino acids that stimulate GH production.

The amino acids that stimulate the release the GH are arginine, lysine, ornithine, tyrosine and tryptophan. However, it has been discovered that only a specific type of arginine (arginine pyroglutamate) combined with L-lysine makes the best GH releaser. There are places that carry the right APG Lysine combination. For an inexpensive option, see the website below.

Important Factors to Know ? Please read this

You may get better results if you DON’T take your GH releaser every day. It turns out that the body can develop a tolerance to GH supplementation. It depends upon your age and GH levels but every other day to only 2 or 3 times a week should be sufficient. It might also be helpful to change supplementations. Use the oral spray for a month or two, change to the nutritional supplements and then take a break from both for a month. Again, this would be part of your own personal experimentation.

Another important consideration is the use of aspirin or antihistamines. They have been shown to block the GH release and should not be taken within 8 hours before or after you take your GH supplement.

Fat or a fatty meal will also severely decrease the release of GH. Be careful what you eat before and after your supplementation.

In conclusion, HGH supplementation for people over 40 can prove to be part of an anti-aging regime. It’s important to do your research to avoid wasting your money. Do your own experimentation to see what works for you but be smart about it.

Best Vitamin Supplements

Author:
Most people want to improve their health, particularly if they can do it easily. Since the way modern food is processed can destroy nutrients, many people choose to supplement their diets by taking vitamin pills. What are the best vitamin supplements to maximize health? Here is a suggested list.

Always consult your physician before you start taking vitamins. Your medical advisor is the only person who can determine what the best vitamin supplements and dosages are for you.

The basics

A multivitamin tablet is a great foundation when looking for the best vitamin supplements. It will contain some of all the basic vitamins and minerals you need and in some cases, a full dose. For example, the amount of Vitamin A in multivitamins is plenty and a separate Vitamin A tablet won’t be needed.

Vitamin B complex, which includes 11 different B vitamins, contributes to the health of the nervous system. It is beneficial for medication overuse, alcoholism or recovery from a serious illness. B vitamins assist in reducing the effects of stress and support the adrenal glands. They aid in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins and are essential for the health of your skin, hair, eyes, mouth and liver.

Vitamin B-3 is also known as niacin or niacinamide. It helps maintain healthy functioning of the nervous system, digestive system and skin.

Vitamin B-6 combats carpal tunnel syndrome, joint pain, trigger finger, sensitivity to bright light, burning or tingling in the extremities and inability to recall dreams. It works in combination with magnesium and zinc.

Vitamin B-12 is used as a tonic. It assists in the conversion of iron to hemoglobin in the blood, helps normalize hormone production and increases short-term memory in the elderly. It also contributes to nervous system health.

Folic acid is an essential B vitamin that promotes heart health. Pregnant women need ample supplies of folic acid to reduce the risk of serious birth defects in their babies.

Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant. It reacts with free radicals in the bloodstream to combat cell damage, so it can be considered a cancer fighter. It is important in immune system health and collagen formation. Some people believe high doses of vitamin C can help fight colds, but research to support this is mixed. It is present in citrus fruit and prevents scurvy, a disease caused by vitamin C deficiency.

Vitamin D helps promote healthy bones, largely by helping the body absorb calcium. Vitamin D can reduce the risk of diabetes, heart attack, muscle and bone pain, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and cancers of the breast, colon, prostate, ovaries, esophagus and lymphatic system. It may also help lower blood pressure. It stimulates the pancreas to make insulin and regulates the immune system.

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that fights free radicals whose accumulation can lead to premature cell aging. In addition, vitamin E enhances immune response, which is beneficial in preventing and fighting cancer. Studies suggest it may reduce the risk of prostate cancer. It was formerly believed that Vitamin E helped reduce the risk of heart attack, but recent studies suggest it may increase that risk.

Calcium is necessary for bone maintenance and assists in muscle contraction and nerve function. It may also help prevent colon cancer.

Magnesium works with calcium to build bones. It helps keep muscles strong and nerves alert, as well as helping protect the heart from the stress of exercise. It may also protect against type two diabetes.

Optional extras

Beta carotene supplements the activity of vitamin A. It is a powerful antioxidant and immune system enhancer.

Chromium picolinate stabilizes blood sugar and may promote weight loss as part of a balanced diet and exercise regimen. It can also be used for body building, decreased and increased blood sugar levels and morning sickness.

Coenzyme Q10 is a major antioxidant used in the transfer of cellular respiration inside the inner mitochondrial membranes of the body’s cells. It supports heart health.

Lutein promotes eye health. It may protect against aging related eye diseases, including macular degeneration and cataracts.

Selenium binds with heavy metals and helps the body get rid of them. It supports the immune system and may protect against some forms of cancer.

Zinc is another antioxidant supplement believed to be helpful in shortening the duration of colds. People with zinc deficiency may have significantly higher glucose levels and lower insulin levels than similar patients without normal zinc levels.

If you are experiencing health problems, do some research on the Internet to find what the best vitamin supplements are for your condition. People who prefer to avoid taking prescription drugs may be able to find solutions by selecting the best vitamin supplements supported by research studies.

Best Body Building Supplement by Nguang Nguek Fluek!

Author:
Supplements are concentrated doses of nutrition. They are extracted from natural food sources (you need to check this out often) and are in a form where the body is ready to absorb them. Basically, these are additions to the normal diet and cannot be substituted for the basic diet.

There is a range of body building supplements available in the market. You could easily get vitamin, mineral and even protein supplements. Then there are fat burners, carbohydrate blockers, testosterone boosters and creatine. Chemical supplements are also available if you have taken up body building professionally. But beware; many of these body building supplements are prohibited in the international sports arena. They could have a debilitating effect on your health too if used for a long time.

The type of body building supplements and the quantity of body building supplements you require will depend on what your purpose was in the first place in taking up body building. If you just wanted an athletic and fit body, not essentially muscle mass, you may not require too much of body supplements. And perhaps small doses of vitamins and minerals should be enough.

But if you are looking to develop rippling muscles you may have to partake of liberal doses of body building supplements. And you may be needing more of protein supplements.
Which is the best body building supplement? There can be no sure shot answer to this. You may really need to scour the market for the genuine supplements because there are quite a few fake ones floating around. Supplement manufacturers will go to any length to convince you of their product. Remember, the best body building supplements are those that work and do not harm.

Don’t believe what the supplement manufacturer tells you. Try looking for genuine reviews of supplements that give an unbiased view of the efficacy of the supplements based on scientific tests. There are many reviews contracted out by the manufacturers themselves. If you want rapid results in your lean muscle growth you need to use the correct and only the best body building supplement.

There are several body building supplements being sold today such as whey, “andro”, arginine, BCAA’s, CLA, creatine, carnitine, glutamine, HMB, MCT’s, tyrosine, plant sterols, DHEA and many more. Then there are the cell-signaling hemodilators that are said to create dramatic increases in muscle size, endurance, power output and load capacity.

Let your search for the best body building supplement be guided by logic and intelligence. If you are not careful while zeroing in on the correct body building supplement not only will you have wasted money but you may also harm yourself.

Choosing the right body building supplement will help you get good muscles growth. Do not conduct uneducated experiments on your body. Rather, seek the help of body building professionals or ask your gym instructor for advice on building the body you desire. Remember to take care of cardio exercises besides building body muscles. Muscles without stamina is no good for you anyway.

Benefits of Amino Acids - An Integral Part of Life

Author:
AMINO ACIDS are the building blocks of the body. Besides building cells and repairing tissue, they form antibodies to combat invading bacteria & viruses; they are part of the enzyme & hormonal system; they build nucleoproteins (RNA & DNA); they carry oxygen throughout the body and participate in muscle activity. When protein is broken down by digestion the result is 22 known amino acids.

As the building blocks of protein, amino acids are vital to health. Next to water, amino acids in the form of proteins make up the greatest portion of our body weight. They comprise tendons, muscles and ligaments; organs and glands; hair and nails; important bodily fluids, and are a necessary part of every cell in the body.

There are over 20 amino acids, separated into two categories - essential and non-essential. Essential amino acids are those that cannot be manufactured by your body, hence, it is essential that you obtain them from your diet. Non-essential amino acids can be manufactured by your body, however, your body must have the right combination of essential amino acids and supporting nutrients to optimize healthy protein maintenance, so supplementation may be desirable. Twenty amino acids are needed to build the various proteins used in the growth, repair, and maintenance of body tissues. Eleven of these amino acids can be made by the body itself, while the other nine (called essential amino acids) must come from the diet. The essential amino acids are isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. Another amino acid, histidine, is considered semi-essential because the body does not always require dietary sources of it. The nonessential amino acids are arginine, alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamine, glutamic acid, glycine, proline, serine, and tyrosine. Other amino acids, such as carnitine, are used by the body in ways other than protein-building and are often used therapeutically.

Who is likely to be deficient?
Dieters, some strict vegetarian body builders, and anyone consuming an inadequate number of calories may not be consuming adequate amounts of amino acids. In these cases, the body will break down the protein in muscle tissue and use those amino acids to meet the needs of more important organs or will simply not build more muscle mass despite increasing exercise.

Amino acids are not only absolutely integral to life, but they can have a profound impact upon how clearly we think and how well we feel.

Benefits
? builds cells and repairs tissue
? assists with wound healing
? increases athletic performance
